Terms and conditions

These terms govern your use of Park4Me, a service for paid street parking in Amsterdam and other Dutch municipalities that publish their zones and rates in the RDW's national parking register. It is made up of a phone app, an app for car head units, and a backend service. Park4Me is operated by 4Me Technology B.V. (KvK 42136126). By creating an account or using Park4Me you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Park4Me lets you start and stop paid street-parking sessions. In the phone app you always start and stop them yourself. Automatic parking is an optional, experimental feature that runs only in the Park4Me car app on supported Android Automotive head units. It determines the tariff zone from your location and computes the cost from public tariff data (RDW and Gemeente Amsterdam). We take care with zone and tariff data, but it can sometimes be wrong or out of date.

2. Your account

You need an account with a verified email address, or Google or Apple sign-in. Keep your login details private; you are responsible for sessions started from your account. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.

3. Parking sessions and pricing

  • You pay the municipal tariff of the zone you park in. The price applies from the moment the session starts until it ends.
  • Sessions are billed by the second. A session that ends within 60 seconds is free. Once it has lasted longer than 60 seconds, it is billed in full from its real start time.
  • Where a zone is sold as a day ticket, it is charged per day ticket, the same way a parking meter would charge it. The cost calculation takes the zone's maximum stay into account.
  • Park4Me may charge a service fee per paid parking session. If it does, the amount is shown in the app before you start. Free sessions never carry a fee.
  • The amount calculated by our backend is the amount charged. You can see every session, with its start, end and cost, in the app.

4. Payment by card

  • Your card. You pay for parking with a debit or credit card that you save in the app. Card payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms. Your bank confirms the card when you add it (3D Secure). Prepaid cards and other payment methods are not accepted.
  • The hold. To start a session you need a saved card with an open authorisation hold of €15. If there is none, we place one when you start. A hold reserves the amount on your card but does not charge it.
  • Charges. The cost of your sessions is added up. When it reaches €15, we capture the hold and place a new one if you are still parking or still owe money. A hold is settled no later than 6 days after it was placed: we capture what you owe from it and release the rest. Amounts under €0.50 are carried over to the next charge. You never pay more than the cost of your parking, and you get an email receipt for every charge.
  • Declined payments. If your card refuses a new hold while you are parking, the running session is ended and we notify you. After a declined hold or charge you cannot start a new session until a new hold succeeds (for example after you update your card). Amounts that could not be charged remain due.
  • Changing or removing your card. You can replace or remove your card in the app. Anything you still owe is charged to the card before it is removed, and you cannot remove it while a session is running.
  • Disputes. If you dispute a charge with your bank, you cannot start new sessions until we have resolved the dispute with you.
  • Corrections. If you believe a session was charged incorrectly, contact us at support@park4me.nl. We will review it and correct it where needed.

4a. Right of withdrawal (14 days)

As a consumer you may withdraw from your Park4Me contract within 14 days of creating your account, without giving a reason. To do so, send us a clear statement, for example by email to support@park4me.nl. You can use the model withdrawal form below, but you don't have to.

If you asked us to start the service within those 14 days, for example by starting a parking session, and you then withdraw, you pay only a proportionate amount for the service already provided: the parking sessions (and any service fee) completed before you told us you were withdrawing. We refund anything we charged beyond that within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, to the card you used, and release any open hold.

5. Fines and your responsibility

Park4Me is a tool that helps you pay for parking. You remain responsible for parking legally and for checking that a session is active when it needs to be, especially with automatic starts, which depend on your car and network connections. Park4Me does not pay parking fines ("naheffingsaanslagen") for you. If you receive a fine while the app showed an active session, contact us: we will provide the session details you need to object with the municipality. If a fine was caused by an error on our side, you may be entitled to compensation under section 7.

6. Availability

We work to keep Park4Me available and correct, but we cannot guarantee that the service is always uninterrupted or free of errors. We may change or improve features over time.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for damage resulting from the use of Park4Me is limited to direct damage, up to the amount you paid through Park4Me in the three months before the event that caused the damage. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost time or lost profit.

These limitations do not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, and they do not limit any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Dutch or EU law.

8. Ending your account

You can stop using Park4Me and delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). We may suspend or end an account in case of misuse, fraud or unpaid outstanding amounts, and will tell you why.

9. Privacy

How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then.

11. Governing law, complaints and contact

These terms are governed by Dutch law. For questions or complaints, email support@park4me.nl; we aim to respond within 2 working days. If we cannot resolve a dispute together, it can be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.

These terms are also available in Dutch. If the two versions differ, the version most favourable to you as a consumer applies.
