Privacy policy

The controller of your personal data is 4Me Technology B.V. (KvK 42136126). For privacy questions, email support@park4me.nl.

Account data. Your email address and a hashed password, or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the account identifier and email address those services give us. We send a verification code to confirm your email. Purpose: creating and securing your account.

Vehicles. The licence plates you add and which one is active. Purpose: registering parking for the right vehicle.

Location. Your precise location while you use the app, to find the parking zone and tariff when you start a session. On an Android phone you can switch on permit warnings, which use your location in the background. That is opt-in and you can turn it off at any time in the app or in your phone settings.

Vehicle signals. Automatic parking is an optional, experimental feature that runs only in the Park4Me car app on supported Android Automotive head units, never on a phone. When you turn it on there, the app reads the gear position and speed to detect when you park and drive off. We never send commands to your car.

Parking sessions. Start and end time, zone, street, tariff, the parked location, how the session was started and ended, and the cost. Purpose: charging you correctly and showing your history.

Payments and wallet. Your wallet balance and its transactions, top-ups, and the status of payments. If you enable auto top-up, a SEPA Direct Debit mandate is set up through Mollie; we store Mollie's customer and mandate references, not your full bank details. Purpose: processing payments and bookkeeping.

Permits and preferences. Parking permits you add, favourite zones, and app settings. Purpose: warnings and personalisation you asked for.

Device data. A push-notification token and basic device session information. Purpose: sending session and wallet notifications, and keeping you signed in.

Support. The messages you send us and our replies.

Waitlist. If you join the waitlist on this website, your email address is sent to our backend and stored there, together with a salted hash of your IP address and your browser's user-agent string (to stop abuse). Our support mailbox gets a notification of each signup. We use your email only to tell you when Park4Me is available in your area. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Crash reports. When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a technical error report (device model, app version, error details) to Sentry so we can fix it.

Diagnostics. In the automatic parking settings you can turn on "Help improve automatic parking". It stays off unless you turn it on. When it is on, we collect how your car reported its gear, where and when a park was detected, crash and error reports, and which screens you use. Purpose: making automatic parking more reliable.

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): your account, vehicles, location while starting a session, sessions, payments and the wallet.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): background location, auto-parking with vehicle signals, diagnostics, push notifications and the waitlist. You can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing that already took place.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): keeping payment records for the Dutch statutory tax retention period.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): preventing fraud and abuse, securing the service, and fixing errors (crash reports and short-lived audit logs).

We do not sell your data. We use these processors and partners, only for the purposes described:

• Mollie (Netherlands): payments, top-ups and SEPA mandates.
• Google: Google Sign-In, if you choose it.
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, if you choose it.
• TransIP (Netherlands): sending email, such as verification codes and support mail.
• OVH (EU data centres): hosting of our servers and database.
• Expo: delivering push notifications.
• MoveYou: registering your parking with the municipality, when this is enabled for your zone. We share your licence plate, the location and the start and end time.
• Sentry: crash and error reports, and diagnostics if you share them.
• Vercel: hosting this website.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom): turning a location into a street name, and place search. The app sends the coordinates or search text straight from your device, together with your IP address.
• OpenFreeMap: the map tiles shown in the app. Your device requests them directly, which reveals your IP address and the map area you view.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to a competent authority.

Our servers and database are hosted in the EU. The OpenStreetMap Foundation is based in the United Kingdom, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision. Some processors (Google, Apple, Expo, Sentry, Vercel) are based in or may process data in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Account data: as long as your account exists.
• Precise location on past sessions and vehicle-signal observations: removed after 365 days. The session record itself (time, street, zone, cost) stays in your history.
• Auto-parking audit logs: deleted after 90 days.
• Payment records: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law. After you delete your account they are anonymised, so they no longer link to you.
• Waitlist emails: until launch in your area or until you ask us to remove them.
• Backups: database backups are kept for up to 30 days. Data from a deleted account can remain in a backup until that backup expires. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification of data that is wrong or incomplete.
• Erasure: delete your account and data (see Delete your account).
• Restriction of processing in certain cases.
• Objection to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Data portability and export: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off background location or notifications.

You can delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete account. For access, export, correction or any other request, email support@park4me.nl from the address linked to your account. You can also request a data export through the app. We reply within one month. If we need to check your identity, we will ask for as little as possible.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the supervisory authority in the EU country where you live.

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored as hashes, and access to production systems is limited to the people who need it.

Park4Me is meant for drivers and is only for adults (18 and over). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy when the product or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
